Excellent grains, but not enough

I have mixed feelings about this. On one level, the grains are great. They seem healthy, the kefir has been pretty good sometimes, but it's all a process of ramping up that takes too long. I don't know why they send so little in an order, because it means that for the first six weeks or so one is mostly focused on creating a kefir engine capable of producing enough kefir to begin to actually use and enjoy.
Doing it this way is annoying and frustrating. In my third week, I'm maybe up to two tablespoons, so I'm just starting to get enough to have a serving - my idea of a serving - once a day. But there's more to it than that, because I want to work on second fermentation and the inclusion of various things that help the kefir grains to produce better kefir. All of that requires much more kefir, and given what they sent me that is still many weeks away. So there was the week of comparing sellers and offerings, then the week of waiting, and now many weeks of waiting while the grains reproduce, slowly, so that maybe in six weeks I'll begin to have enough to actually get going.
So I did more research and made phone calls and finally I found a seller who for only a little more than the cost of these grains is going to send me the equivalent of twelve times as much. They'll be here in a week, and although I'll keep these grains separate, because they are good, just not a sufficient amount, and in six weeks or a month I'll finally have enough of them to try to do something, the grains I'll soon have from the other seller will bring up immediately up to speed so I can produce enough kefir to work with and enjoy without the sense that I'm in a famine.
To be fair to these guys, almost everyone sells the same tiny amount and makes you go through a several-month process to get to a decent production level for even one person if you like this stuff as much as I do. So Yemoos isn't doing anything outside of the "industry" norm, just frustrating me the same way almost every other seller would unless I wanted to pay them a kind of insane amount to jumpstart things. I got lucky with the other seller, I think my frustration had built up to the point where I was gently ranting about it and this person took pity on me and had a lot of grains they didn't need right away.
If I want to grow grass on a lot and all I can get is a cup of seeds, I can probably get a fully covered field. But it will take a long time and a lot of focused effort that is going to make the field of grass a monument to frustration rather than the joyful project I would be hoping for. In case someone at Yemoos reads this - I'd like you to know that I wouldn't have left a review had you not pushed me to, and more than once, as I recall. I don't like leaving negative reviews, so I rarely do unless there is a reason. This isn't a negative review, it's a frustrated one. In two or three months I'll have more than enough of your grains and I might come back and change this review if I remember. The grains themselves seem great. Just not enough .

Love it!!

After 7 days in transit, in the heat, my grains came to life within 24 hours and have been getting stronger every day. The flavor is great!
I use organic whole milk and have already had to upgrade to a larger container.....
