Authentic sourdough can only be made by live sourdough starter, not from any
kind of packet or powder. It is completely different to the typical bland mushy
bread found at the stores.

Authentic sourdough has a multidimensional flavor, crunchy crust, moist crumb
and amazing texture. There are some bakery's that keep a live starter, but the
bread can be expensive.

Our San Francisco starter is meticulously cared for and fed with organic
freshly-ground flour (we mill it ourselves). It's been robust since the day we got it,
and lends itself quite well to any flour of your choice. It comes from a clean,
smoke-free home.
